Resilience

There is a mindset commonly known as resilience. Resilience means when a person can recover from hardships and turn the difficult times into the favourable ones. This is a virtue which can change a person’s outlook and the way to handle strenuous situations. The resilient people have the capacity to be calm in types of stressful situations and can balance circumstances which have the power of going out of hand. They can nurture a positive point of view and can handle pressure in all kinds of conditions constructively. We all can nurture and grow the habit of being resilient to be prepared for all hardships and overcome it with a smile by practicing seven skill sets.

The first skill that we have to upgrade in us is knowing your true self as it helps us in evolving our inner confidence and helps us in growing us from inside. When we have our confidence with us, we can handle any situation without a problem. There are many researches done in this area that with confidence it’s a play task to overcome any problem and recover from it. When we become well aware of ourselves and learn to handle and deal with stressful situations, we can tone our resilient nature for the better future.

The second skill is to feel that our body and mind is one. Many people are born resilient, it is their innate nature but those who are not born it they can acquire it by healing our minds and strengthening our bodies as when we have to find a hard situation our body and mind works together. If they do so or there is less coordination between them then it becomes more and more difficult to tame the situation. If the body is in pain then the mind also gets panic commands and forgetting that they have to fight the situation, they start succumbing to it. To become resilient, we have to keep our body fit by giving it dosage of a healthy lifestyle. Healthy lifestyle can be attained by keeping check on eating, sleeping and exercising activities. We have to keep every lifestyle activity in balance.

The third skill set is adopting change with an optimistic attitude. To be flexible from inside is one of the essential parts of being resilient. To respond to any plight of life, we should learn to become adaptable in all the situations. As when we become adaptable, we would be able to accept the hardships and turn the crisis into a positive opportunity to evolve into a much better personality. Those who can thrive in adverse conditions and branch the adverse condition into a brand-new path which leads to success. When many people succumb to these situations and put themselves in a dark hole because of it, resilient people focus on overcoming the situation with better outcomes. As they are wired in such a way that they never give up. They are optimistic and always have that hopeful perspective. Being positive or hopeful doesn’t mean that they ignore the problem but they have a clearer understanding of the situation and understand that these hardships are an inevitable part of life. They have the ability to fight with the situation, it may look a difficult skill to attain, but we can practice it by thinking positively and keeping a mindset that everything on this earth is temporary so as the challenging situation present in front of us. Then we also will be able to combat with the obstacles of life without any inhibition.

The fourth skill set is nourishing our minds and stabilizing our minds. To improve resilience ability, we have to maintain nourishment of the body and balancing mind. When we are in a stressful situation our mind sends a message to the body to fight the situation by using the available resources and protecting us from critical situations. If the person won’t have enough stamina then fighting any situation is a dream but those with good coordination between body and mind will thrive in the situation. We should make time from our daily life to self-nurture us by engaging us in activities which we like. In this way our body and mental health will boost and will be ready to face any obstacle of life.

The fifth skill set is to build our relationships within the real world. We should give out time to maintain our social network to enhance resilient ability. As today, in present times, we give more time to social media by being fake and expressing only those feelings which are worth presentable and hide from real relationships. We don’t have to hide our true self as our family members, real friends won’t have a problem accepting that real nature. So, it is really necessary to indulge in healthy relationships and increase our resilient nature. When real relationships support us in mastering resilience, sham of social media relation puts a breakdown on it.

The skill set which we have to observe next is keeping the goal in life. As setting goals, keeps our minds engaged and in check to overcome any problem. We are hardwired to cross any hardship if we have a purpose in our life. Purpose instils a fuel in us to fight with any situation and grab that goal. We can keep our mind on track by practicing meditation in our daily life as it makes our mind clear and we become more aware of our capabilities and how to cultivate them in mastering resilience.

The last but not the only skill set which we have to adapt in our lifestyle is savouring the journey when achieving resilience. It is a long process and takes time to take shape. So, it is mandatory for us to not be discouraged if we can still not overcome the stressful situations and turn it into a positive opportunity. To attain resilience, we don’t have to follow any set pattern but when we are in the process, we can start loving that process as when we start seeing positive change in us, we would be positively motivated by it and grow to become the most patient, resilient person. We will be able to overcome any crisis just by focusing on strengths.

Last but not the least, by becoming resilient, we would not only be able to solve our problems in a positive manner but would be able to help and serve others as well.

A Long Way to Go

Happy Independence Day to all of us as today it has been 74 years since we have achieved freedom. From then onwards we have come a long way. We were able to get this freedom as the fight was fought by male and female freedom fighters. They fought with our tormentors by fighting and bearing their responsibilities without even a furrow on their face.

Today, women have gone a way ahead in society and achieved many impossible achievements. From being soldier to scientist, from being chef to aeronaut, from being teacher to politician, they are ruling and grabbing success in all the areas of this country and making the countrymen proud day by day with their hard work and achievements.
But still there are many facets of society where women are considered as the weakling, of inferior stature who don’t have the right to speak or achieve whatever they want.

When we talk about giving more freedom to women or getting equal pay then some men will come out and say Why more freedom? They have been given reservations, maternity holidays and what not. So, why more freedom?
I would like to ask them a question: when you come from the office or workplace, you become so tired that you just want to relax but when your wife, mother or sister comes from the office, you want her to work in the kitchen. When you are just working in the office, she is managing the whole house, her office, her periods and if she is a mother then child as well. But you will say that it is just a meagre work which is of no value. But when she is unwell and you have to work then that work becomes a herculean task and you feel yourself as some superhuman who is managing all things alone and you will brag about it in front of everybody that how humane you are that you share responsibilities with your other half.

It’s not that I am generalizing that all men are the same but, in my lifetime, I have seen only some men whom I can count on my fingertips who actually share responsibilities. This is just a glimpse in life of a woman from the working sector. Now I will talk about girls and women who are residing in villages. The story is entirely different there. The girl goes to school with lots of dreams but gets married as soon as she finishes school or she has just entered college. When that girl becomes a wife, she bears responsibility for the whole house along with its inhabitants. Earlier, at least there was a hope that they were able to go to school or college.

But the arrival of this pandemic COVID-19 and lockdown has made their situation become more pathetic. During the lockdown period, they were locked in the house with their tormentors and they abused women in whatever they wanted. There was an article in ‘The Hindu’ that ‘For the first time in 10 years, domestic violence complaint calls by women surged, such a pattern has not been for 10 years.’ The situation grew out of hand because when locked with their perpetrators they can’t go out and ask for help. So many of the women opted to still take a bold step by calling on helpline numbers, by hiding in their rooms, fearing that someone might hear them and they will become subject to abuse again.

Whereas women were seeing such worse conditions, the girls in several areas saw totally different and devastating situations. There are many areas in India where parents who are not much well off, to ease up their burden are marrying off small girls who have not even turned 18. Their parents either because they belong to a weak economic class, or as the administrative surveillance was not up to mark because of COVID-19, or as they would not have to shell a lot of money because of people’s limits, they opted for marrying their girl off who has not even crossed the tender age. One of the major roles which has played in early marriage of these girls is also that schools are closed because of lockdown and schools used to play a huge role in the lives of these young girls. From sanitation to keeping check on their health, from keeping track of their studies to investigation of their absence, they kept all the data because of which parents also used to adhere to the fact that they can’t marry their daughter or son at an early age or they will become subject to punishment by law. Now as there is no such check they are doing according to their wish.

This is my innermost desire that a day should come when we are builders of this society; when we are not given a place, whereas we know it’s our place; when male members of family don’t help but share responsibility; when we are taken as a weakling but as the strongest creation of Nature, who we actually are.

Let’s Listen to This Fellow.

This simple post on Facebook gave me what I love most, a big smile. In the morning when I opened facebook to see what was happening in the world and was still in yawn mode, this image just jumped up, looked at me and made me smile with its simplicity. We all have that something around us always which can make us smile at any point of time but we just have to turn our attention to it. But I think we all do the same mistake, engross ourselves with so many tired and unsatisfying vibes that we ignore such strongest positive pill which is forcing us to feel positive and keep smiling always.
Just sharing this image as I feel it brings smile on your face like it brought to mine.
Keep Smiling, Keep Loving, Keep Being Positive.

Quarantine thoughts:

Since past 9 days I have been in home quarantine and I don’t know whether I love it or not. But to stay at home is mandatory so can’t help it. Somewhere I feel I am okay with it. Though I miss going outdoors for evening walk a lot. Although I don’t go out much, I miss being free all the time.

I am trying to make use of this time-period by joining online internship, which has kept me so busy that I am not able to update my blogs daily. But somewhere deep inside is satisfaction that I am doing something productive.

I am just waiting for these days to pass by so that at least I can go out for my daily walk and re-join with my favourite ‘nature’ again.

Therapeutic Game:

Happy Color is a game which I like the most. I am not the person who has got a gift of art or painting, but this game has given my artistic mind a new horizon. It is the game which frees me from boredom and when I am stressed; I just open and start coloring any given task. After completing some of the tasks, I realize that my stress is gone. So, for me it’s not just a game, it’s a therapy.

With the latest update, it’s exactly the way I wanted it to be.

Yes, it has a negative side as well which is same like all the other games, you become so addicted to it that if you overplay it, your eyes may start hurting a bit. So, it’s my advice that if you want to enjoy the game enjoy with caution. As we all know ‘prevention is better than cure’.

I am not promoting the game, it’s just that I love this game a lot and it always turns my sour mood to pleasant one.

Belongingness:

It’s so good to come back to a place you love the most. When I saw Mysore for the first time, back in 2018, I fell instantly in love with the city. It’s beautiful weather, calm surroundings, good-hearted people, lush greenery and what not; stole my heart in one go.

Chamundi Hills view from Mysore airport.
When sun welcomes you in the morning.

I was a North Indian girl who came to Mysore with lots and lots of inhibitions in my mind which were shed in that one instant when I saw this city. I was having this feeling of belongingness to this place.

In two years, my love and bond to this place has become so much strong that whenever I feel like that, I may leave this place in some time, I feel saddened by the thought only.

This place has made me realize my dreams and ignited that will to pursue it. Wherever I go, I will never stop loving Mysore. Even, my dream is to come back to Mysore when I am old to live my life peacefully in my golden days of life.

P.S.: Love You Mysore♥️♥️♥️

Travelling Woes:

These times, when a person has to travel, s/he thinks a lot as it is a tedious time to travel. We all know the reason, our one and only, COVID 19, and if that person has to travel by plane then it feels like nightmare.

Why I am talking about this now?

I am travelling back to Mysore and for that I have to take flights. My parents were a really worried this time. I was worried as well but didn’t show them as they would have been more worried.

When I came to airport it looked like vacant. But later people started coming in. Many of them are following social distancing norms but some of them are still not accustomed to the idea.

I was really stressed since morning, but after stepping in the airport, all my inhibitions were banished. The security measures were up to the mark. The cleanliness and sanitizing standard bar are raised and every necessary step is being taken.

Flying is same but experience is not. It feels like you have stepped in future totally decked in gloves, masks, face shields and carrying your best arm that is, sanitizer, with you all the time.

I don’t know about others but I personally didn’t like this way of travelling. But I should be gracious that I am going so I am thankful to God that I and my family is safe from this virus.

P.S. – I salute doctors who continuously keep on wearing gloves and even operate on people wearing them. Hats off to them.
